The product silo conundrum

To provide client-tailored solutions that address the whole corporate value chain is difficult, when individual banking components have to be processed in fast, efficient factories interacting with industry infrastructures.  This gets even more complicated when clients’ needs evolve to wanting solutions that combine elements of different traditional banking product.

Therefore the guiding principles have to be a connection between the corporation’s needs and the bank’s capabilities, hiding the complexity and bringing out ease of use, omnichannel common, cross-bank (even interbank) solutions.

This is why competitive banks need to be ruthless about:

  • Product processing being decomposable with strong APIs – and sticking to just product processing
  • Horizontal functions such as customer onboarding or funds control being flexible, workflow driven and able to work across all products
  • Channel connection having strong capabilities to handle all devices without reconfiguration at the front end, integrate well and easily at the back end and rich enough to provide solutions that the corporation itself can tailor.
